SCOfacts Miscellany

• SCOX short interest: table of the monthly short interest in, and approximate market capitalization of, SCO's common stock, since June 2002.
• One hundred shares of SCOX, for the morbidly curious. (Note: I borrowed, rather than purchased, these shares. I have never had a net long position in SCOX.)
• Trolltech and Ralph Yarro: some email about the relationship between Trolltech and SCO Chairman Ralph Yarro.
• Mirrors: copies of the stories about SCO at groklaw, ip-wars, and slashdot can be found at gl.scofacts.org, ipw.scofacts.org, and sd.scofacts.org. See below for brief descriptions of those sites.

  • Frank Sorenson's sco.tuxrocks.com has the most comprehensive collection of SCO-related legal filings.
  • Dion Cornett is the sole Wall Street analyst covering SCO's stock. He often discusses SCO developments in his free weekly newsletter Open Source Wall Street.
  • The SCO page at edgar.sec.gov has SCO's quarterly financial results, as well as all the other filings SCO makes with the SEC.
  • ir.sco.com is the source of SCO press releases.
  • Discussion sites:
    • groklaw.net is the blog of Pamela Jones, "a journalist with a paralegal background". It includes a collection of legal filings (generally spottier than tuxrocks's), daily (or more frequent) stories by Jones, and a vast amount of visitor-submitted, moderator-approved comments, of which the great majority are rubbish, but the vastness has included a lot of insight, too. Its administration seems to be rather capricious and dishonest (see here for some evidence of one example of this), but groklaw is the undisputed volume leader in SCO coverage. The SCO stories are mirrored at gl.scofacts.org.
    • ip-wars.net is Jeff Causey's recently-born (November 2004) discussion site for SCO cases and other intellectual property battles. Features slashdot-ish ratings of visitors' comments by other visitors. The SCO stories are mirrored at ipw.scofacts.org.
    • The Caldera topic on slashdot.org. It's slashdot. The SCO stories are mirrored at sd.scofacts.org.
    • Yahoo's SCOX message board. An open forum of idiocy in which you will probably only find the occasional good stuff by using yahoeuvre.
    • Yahoeuvre is Andy Green's attempt to make Yahoo's SCOX message board useful. It provides an NNTP gateway to the board (read-only), a search engine (which covers the entire history of the board back to 2000, rather than Yahoo's pitiful last-30-days search), a compilation of statistics to help you find the worthwhile posters and their posts, and a few other odds and ends. Of particular interest to stock short-sellers is the chart that includes the daily history of SCO's Rule 11830 status. (You can't spit on the web without hitting a free site that provides a stock's price history and current 11830 status, but this is the only free source of 11830 history that I've seen.)
